Note: I’ve fixed the embedded audio for Episode 13 of The Matineecast. You can now give it a listen two posts back, or in the sidebar. I’m working on fixing the iTunes feed – Stay tuned.
I’ve said it before, I’ll say it again – thank goodness Wednesdays are trailer day here on TDOTM. makes the morning after blogger pub night much more manageable! At least this week, we stumbled on to a potential creedo for this blog:
“The Dark of The Matinee – Now with just a whisper of horse shit.”
I know many of you have seen this already, but given that one of J.J. Abrams’ properties wrapped up this past weekend, it seemed like a fitting time to look forward to a future one. (Is it summer 2011 yet?)
Why does TDOTM have a whisper of horse shit?
That sounds just a bit malicious.
Summer 2011?? Wow, never too early for mktg I guess. I saw this just before Iron Man 2 came on, I gotta admit I was intrigued. Abrams' definitely gotten this teaser trailer thing down pat. It's got Cloverfield written all over it, but hopefully this'll be much better.
What the hell is the only thing I can come up with.
Even if you don't like JJ ABrams, which could probably prove mental insanity in a court of law, you have to admit he knows how to lure an audience into wanting to see his stuff. Spielberg's name on their wets my whistle even further.
Oh, and I NEED A PODCAST, HATTER! I'm running out of my others so fix that iTunes feed! 🙂
Finally, today's verification word is OMPAYSA… a lovely yet slightly spicy Indian dish! YUM!
@ Sean… It has always had a whisper of Horse Shit – some might say more than just a whisper.
It was a running joke at blogger pub night and I just decided to latch on to it.
BTW – Love the new blog, looking forward to seeing what you come up with!
@ RTM… Am I the only person who kinda liked CLOVERFIELD?
@ Fitz… Well said.
@ Kaiderman… I count myself a big fan of both, so to say I'm ramped up is putting it mildly.
As for iTunes, I'm not sure what's gonna happen there. I think I might have to start the entire iTunes feed all over, but really need to think long and hard about the "how" since it will be my third server move in eighteen episodes.
For now, I'd say to follow the link to the Podomatic feed, which will give you a way to subscribe to that through iTunes.
RTM: No, Cloverfield ruled. Heather at Mobsters just did a great review on it.
Hatter: What's the problem… is it finding a free host site? I'm looking into doing my own this weekend (would love to have you on BTW) and would like to know!
@ Kaiderman… iTunes seems to be working now, but I had to remove the Hot Docs episodes to make it happen. Perhaps something about them was gumming things up.
What seems to be the hitch is the unreliability of free servers. You either don't get access to much space (moving all existing Matineecasts over to Podomatic for instance would fill up my alotted free server space in one go)…or you're at the mercy of an amazing amount of technical glitches.
In the next few months, I might finally cave and buy myself actual server access…we'll see.
Looking forward to hearing what you bring to your own podcast, and I'd totally be up for being a guest.
Drop me an email and we can set it up, yes?
It looks very intriguing but since they aren't even in development, this could have nothing to do with the story…you know Abrams, he's a "look at this hand" kind of artist, then you don't even notice what his other hand is doing.
Also Hatter, I thoroughly enjoyed Cloverfield…you are not alone my friend:)
Do you know what the servers cost by any chance?
And, I will when I get it figured out! In fact, I'll probably e-mail you a dozen questions when I get closer to pulling the trigger… hope you don't mind!
@ Kaiderman… It varies. Podomatic for instance can give ya 2GB for $9.99/month…Go Daddy can do 5GB for the same price.
When I was thinking of doing mine, I did a lot of reading on it (there are some pretty good books out there with handy tips), and likewise listened to a ton to decide on what I thought worked and what didn't.
Feel free to email me – I have no problems acting as tech support. Fletch was my go-to as I was getting up and running so the least I can do is pay it forward.
