I wasn’t the biggest fan of Danny Boyle off the hop – mostly because I didn’t see SHALLOW GRAVE early on and felt that THE BEACH was only “okay”. But somewhere around the time of 28 DAYS LATER, I became a believer. So much so that just two years ago, the man delivered what I felt was the best movie of the year.
Now I count myself as a full-on fan of all things Boyle, and couldn’t be more excited for his return in 2013 with a nifty-looking heist film starring the once-and-future Professor Charles Xavier.
I loved 127 Hours. If 2010 wasn’t the year of The Social Network, it would have been my favourite too.
I can’t bloody wait for Trance. I think it looks amazing. Love McAvoy and Cassel and that last part in the red-band trailer is too cool.
Funny thing;
Your comment made me look back on my top five list for 2010 (I don’t think you were reading me back then). I then compared it to where the films rank on my Top 100 on Letterboxd.
Some have fallen back a bit, some have risen – I know actually have INCEPTION ranked as my fave 2010 film, and SOCIAL NETWORK, which didn’t make my top five, comes in at number 3 (127 is in between them at number 2).
I know looking back that my knee-jerk reaction for SOCIAL NETWORK was that I found it a little emotionally cold. I still do, but have grown to love so many other things about it that it has only grown in stature for me.
