In the last few days, SLUMDOG MILLIONAIRE has picked up the prize for best adapted screenplay at the Writers’ Guild Awards, along with best picture, director, and screenplay at the BAFTA’s.
In a rare display of muscle, this movie seems to be winning everything in sight. At this point, if it doesn’t win Best Picture in two weeks, it can safely be called an upset of major proportions.
I loved Slumdog, but I think it’s BAFTA success was certainly helped by the fact it’s a British film – and that’s spoken as a Brit, myself.
As good as it is, however, I think The Wrestler is ever so slightly the better film. I…enjoyed (?) it more, anyway – but I don’t think ‘enjoyed’ is the right word to describe that film.
Still yet to see Benjamin Button, however, which I have high hopes for.
Yeah, being a brit-friendly film didn’t hurt it’s BAFTA chances. BAFTA or no BAFTA, I’m still mildly amazed at how it has won everything its been up for this year.
Granted if I had a vote, I would have cast it for either WALL-E or THE DARK KNIGHT.
Curious to know what you think of Ben Button.
