So after taking another long hard look at the film list, I realized there were many many great-looking films that I hadn’t chosen. So I selected a good thirty or so and jotted them down on the list of “Screenings to Add”. You know the drill – you have a hole in your Tuesday schedule about five hours big, you want to go see something in that time, what do you see? Think of it as the players on the bench waiting to get into the game.
But I have a small problem…
A lot of the movies I want to see are all playing at the same time. So what’s a guy to do? Drop the tickets I already have in hopes of getting something better? Grab a ticket to a film that starts twenty minutes after one I already have ends and pray that I can scramble there in time?
I stared at my schedule last night for a good twenty minutes thinking I have done a great job of screwing up my choices big-time this year…that the list I posted
back here is about to get a whole lot bigger this year.
I do tend to choose a bit too many films that are getting major fall releases, but getting an advance look at a lot of these is a big part of the reason I go. Oh well, I’m sure in the end I’ll be happy with what I’ve picked. Maybe looking at the films I can’t see is a bit of “the grass is greener” syndrome. We shall see. For what it’ worth, here are some of the titles I’m hoping to add…
THE ORPHANAGE
CHANSONS D’AMOUR
CONTROL*
RENDITION
CAPTAIN MIKE ACROSS AMERICA
KING OF THE HILL
JOY DIVISION
CASSANDRA’S DREAM
ZONA
PASSAGE
IN THE VALLEY OF ELAH
IT’S A FREE WORLD
ONE HUNDRED NAILS
*Edit: 1:20pm, Just scored a pair to CONTROL’s premiere tomorrow night. Thanks goes out to my adopted sis.
There were a lot of others, but conflicts abound. Well, the fun starts tonight folks! I’m totally excited (this is actually the first year I have a screening on opening night) and have no idea how I’ll be able to concentrate at work today, but I don’t care. So, beginning with this post, I’ll be ending my ramblings with the finishing touch inspired by Vickie over at Moviepie. I’ll make mention of any celebrity sightings of the day (“Hey, Isn’t That…”), good spots to eat (“You Gotta Try This”), and the next day’s weather (“Do I Need a Coat?”).
PERSEPOLIS…you’re up!
Do I Need a Coat?… Tonight, cloudy and breezy. Aprox 21 deg. C /69F. Tomorrow, mix of sun and clouds with a 30% chance of rain in the evening. Aprox 31 deg. C / 88F
I’m *hoping* I don’t need a coat…both of my flicks tonight are in the same theatre (the Ryerson, which is slowly becoming my Uptown), but I will be at my first Midnight Madness screening tonight, so I’d better be warm enough in what I’m wearing come the wee hours!
Now…how many hours till we’re outta here…?
