It probably seems like I’m a tad late in posting this one, but before I linked to this amazing trailer, I wanted to read the graphic novel. The first challenge to that was actually finding a copy in stores!
Having finished reading it though, I find myself quite curious about how this movie will go down…since it didn’t really strike me as the sort of narrative that will translate into a film very easily.
Guess we’ll have to find out in March. Until then, here’s another look at that awesome trailer…
And here I thought you were writing about an Elton John song…
See, here’s the thing…and I’ve often wondered if *anybody* has ever noticed:
Most of my posts, with the exception of the reviews, are named after songs or albums.
Yeah. I know. I’m a geek.
…. And now it’s in my head. Thank you SO much.
😀
Looking back, I can see that I would definitely notice them one at a time, but with the short time that I’ve known you (your blog) and the number of sites that I visit, I hadn’t made the connection yet. I think the main thing that made this one stand out so much was the ocean of difference between John and the Watchmen.
Either way, it’s a great schtick (for lack of a better word), and I’ll bet it’s great for getting Google traffic from people searching for info on the songs. Though using a Matchbox 20 song for obits just ain’t right. Or are The Cranberries or Avril Lavigne the inspiration there (not that those are any better)?
Thanks Fletch! And when you consider that even the title of my blog comes from a song, you have to wonder what side of the clever/geeky line I fall on.
As for the obit entries, I’ve used the following:
“When You’re Gone” Cranberries
“Say Goodbye” Dave Matthews Band
“Goodnight Goodnight” Hot Hot Heat
“Gone” U2
(along with the specially chosen Temptations track “Just My Imagintaion” for Stan Winston).
Any of those strike you as a better choice?
I don't think clever and geeky are mutually exclusive. I'd like to think that I fall on both sides of those lines as well.
Me likes Hot Hot Heat, but "When You're Gone" and "Say Goodbye" are indeed the most apt titles for the obits. And The Cranberries >>> Matchbox 20 and >>>>> Lavigne in my book, so take that for what it's worth.
Yes, I know all too well of your title – it gets in my head often thanks to you. FF should send you royalty checks. In case I haven't said it, you have great taste in music.
