So that was fun huh? ARGO won, Jennifer tripped, Quentin rambled, Daniel charmed, Seth amused-or-sucked depending on who you asked, and we incessantly tweeted the whole. damned. thing.
Let’s move on shall we? Today I give you something that has serendipitously turned into a great palette cleanser…
What is a film podcaster supposed to do when there is nothing in the theatre worth podcasting about? I suppose the answer is “get creative”.
Happily, getting creative has resulted in one of my favorite episodes to date where we talk about a few titles outside of my usual comfort zone. I have to thank my guest for the great ideas…even if the idea was for me to watch something spectacularly dumb.
Here’s what’s in store in episode seventy-nine…

The cast doesn’t download.
Thanks for the note – How are you trying to listen to it?
(iTunes? RSS? Embedded player? etc)
I hit the download button (using firefox) but it produces a screen of gibberish and freezes the browser instead of downloading.
I tried to download it from your website, as usual.
Should work now dude – not sure what was going wrong. If that happens again, right click and download the file.
Oh dude, there’s a Bollywood version of The Rock and it’s one of the better Hollywood copies.
The burrito scene is there to make Fat Amy awesomer. Also, you maybe on to something about it not holding up in the future. Bring It On now is plain painful.
HOT FUZZ!!!!!!!!!!!! This is the the film I regret the most about not having in my top 100 movies.
I think Andrew and I will have to track that version down and do a special Matineecast just talking about it…possibly as a double-feature with the american one.
Don’t know if that’s actually a good idea. When I say better, I mean in comparison to other Hollywood copies, most of which are abysmal. This one would still be a big step down.
This was the second episode in a row you didn’t get to my feedback answer. 🙁
Anyways, here is mine for the next episode:
The director I want to go back to his roots is Christopher Nolan. He’s had his fun playing the Hollywood blockbuster game with The Dark Knight Trilogy and Inception. Now I want him to tone things down and do another crime thriller like Memento, which is one of my alltime favourite films. As good as his blockbusters are, people need to remember WHY Christopher Nolan became a name to be reckoned with in the first place.

Some other comments:
– This episode gave me an idea of a blu-ray I’m going to bring to lend to you at the pub tonight.
– I saw Detention last summer (when it played as part of the Toronto After Dark Summer Screenings) and I would recommend checking it out.
I need to know… what did you lend him at pub night???
Also glad to see some more support for Detention. Fun as hell movie.
Rhymes with rank.
I’ve double-checked that your feedback in my notes this time, so you should hear it in Episode 80 tomorrow. I’m actually sorta looking forward to finally seeing CRANK.
I loved The FP. These directors should teach a class in filmmaking. It is much more difficult to make a bad movie that is good then to make a good movie that ends up being bad.
As for Directors I want to go back to their roots. Peter Jackson should go back to making low budget horror films again. He has proved with the LOTR saga that he is a great director, but I want another Dead Alive or Meet The Feebles.
You and GMan might have been separated at birth!
Listen up for your feedback in Matineecast 80.
