It’s rare that I get to post a trailer of a film I’ve already seen, but sometimes TIFF can come in handy for such things.
One thing I’d wager people watching this trailer will think to themselves is that it really doesn’t seem like a Jason Reitman movie. While I’d never suggest that Reitman has any sort of auteur status after four features, I would suggest that his films have something of a common voice. There’s a palpable mixture of humour and weight to them…usually in equal balance too.
LABOR DAY is different. It doesn’t neatly align itself with the other four films…and while that isn’t at all a bad thing, it may feel unexpected.
So watch, enjoy, and if you plan on seeing this movie, take my advice and find the closest restaurant to the theatre that serves a half decent piece of pie.
You’ll thank me later.
