Last year, I was one of those who fell hard for CLOUD ATLAS.
For some reason I haven’t revisited it since (perhaps Santa will bring me a blu-ray for Christmas!), but it’s grandeur, its look, and its scope have stayed with me since that first screening at TIFF 2012.
I guess in that case, I shouldn’t be all that surprised that I’m so smitten with the look of The Wachowskis’ next project, JUPITER ASCENDING. Oddly enough, I just realized this morning that saving BOUND (which I haven’t seen), the directing siblings haven’t yet made a film that I haven’t liked.
At a glance, I can see how many will toss it off as nothing that interests them, but for me this is eye candy and brain candy all rolled into one. Bring on the summer!
I want to be excited for this. I LOVED Cloud Atlas too, but I’m not the biggest Channing Tatum fan and his look is ridiculous and I don’t know if I will be able to see past it :/ It’s just one of those things.
Part of me thinks the look will fit better when we watch the whole thing in context. I’ll be sure to send back word if it’s worth the price of admission.
I too also enjoyed Cloud Atlas and this might be pretty good. Plus, I’m starting to warm up to Channing Tatum.
I never thought I’d much care for that meathead either, nowadays though, I’m alright with him…
