The Matinee is just days away from cover its fourth and final film festival of the year – Toronto After Dark. As you might have guessed by the title, and likewise by the apropos time of year, the festival is dedicated to all manner of genre films. Zombies, vampire, action, and all sorts of other things that go bump in the night.
In years past, it has given ravenous audiences early glimpses at films such as LET THE RIGHT ONE IN, REPO; THE GENETIC OPERA, TRICK R’ TREAT, BLACK DYNAMITE, and RUBBER. This year, I’m hoping to up the ante on the small taste I got last year by covering titles such as LOVE, EXIT HUMANITY, and A LONELY PLACE TO DIE (amongst several others).
One of those others is the trailer below. A post-apocalyptic survival story called THE DIVIDE…
This trailer has me intrigued, but I always anticipate post-apocalyptic films. Can’t wait to hear more about it once you’ve caught a glimpse.
Press accreditation was declined, so you might have to wait a bit longer to hear my take.
No press cred? Denied? For shame. This looks like it has the potential to be really great and I’m quite interested to see it. Also the world needs more Michael Biehn movies if you ask me.
The press shutout ended up with me skipping this one (it’s s screening as we speak). Make sure you check in with The Film Forager though – this was he most anticipated film.
