Ordinarily, I use Wednesdays to post a trailer for something coming down the pipe that has caught my eye…usually something a few months off to look forward to. However, this week there is nothing. No springtime hope, no summertime fun. Winter is supposed to be the time of lousy movies, not lousy trailers.
Funny thing though, so far this winter I’ve been at the theatre at least once a week, and I haven’t seen a lousy film yet. Perhaps this desert of new trailer material is just the multiplex cosmos’ way of evening the score.
Thus, I bring you a trailer for a film that hits theatres this weekend. I wasn’t able to catch up with it at Toronto After dark last fall, but hopefully I can make it down to the Lightbox before it ends its run.
Having seen the film at Toronto After Dark (which I quite liked), I’m not a big fan of this trailer, since (without spoiling anything) a) It is not a good representation of the film’s plot structure and b) It gives away too much.
The film is still worth checking out though.
Too many trailers these days are actually Bad trailers. For this one, I’m just hoping to raise awareness.
Totally agree with Sean about the trailer. It makes the film look like a standard Hollywood horror and it’s not – it’s character-based, quite funny in parts and takes its time to build up the creep factor. Though I haven’t seen “The Woman In Black”, I expect the two would complement each other as classic style ghost stories.
The film is definitely worth seeing.
Well given that I already had fun with the woman in black (and then I saw a movie: hey-o!), I suppose I should make this one a priority.
Perhaps it’ll be a matinee before the big game on Sunday.
