While the last week and a half have given me a boost on seeing some of the films I was most looking forward to this fall, it didn’t even come close to giving me a peek at all of them. Case in point : J. EDGAR.
The film is the bio-pic of J. Edgar Hoover who was the head of the FBI during some of the most tumultuous times of the twentieth century. Eastwood is one of those directors that has had me blindly handing over my money since MYSTIC RIVER, so any new film of his is automatically cause for excitement for me. For that matter, as I look through his body of work over the last decade I realize that Leonardo DiCaprio has also turned into an actor who almost always gets my money.
Guess what I’m saying is that when you bring ’em both together, I’m in without question.
That’s a film I’d like to see opening night. I’m all about that era of U.S. history. And I agree that DiCaprio and Eastwood are names that make me take notice almost every time.
Well you might be in luck there buttercup. Lindsay isn’t fussed about Clint Eastwood movies, so I could use a date for opening weekend.
Jeez, I am looking forward to this…except then I found out that it’s release date here is in February 2012 🙁
Anyway, I’m glad that Armie Hammer has got a role like this after The Social Network. I thought his performance/s in that were the most underrated of last year!
A few more months won’t kill ya – besides, that gives us here in the west a chance to be your canaries in the coal mine. I mean, it might be as good as MYSTIC RIVER, but it could also be as bad as FLAGS OF OUR FATHERS.
I just watched CHAPLIN and Hoover is in that. Lets hope this film is much, much better.
I think I need to rewatch CHAPLIN – I remember enjoying it quite a bit, but perhaps that’s just nostalgia.
I watched it as recently as two years ago and still enjoyed it.
OMG – I’m so into that! And very excited to see Armie Hammer again.
