Back in 2010, I was one of those who counted themselves as big fans of what director Gareth Edwards was able to do with MONSTERS. Some might have seen it as a letdown, as yet another weak-ass indie would-be horror that doesn’t deliver on what it promises…but for me it did so many wonderful things. Considering how little money it was made for, I found myself wondering “What could Edwards do if he got a budget?”
Looks like we’re about to find out.
While I’m on the subject, could America pass some sort of constitutional amendment that requires Bryan Cranston to get a role with gravitas every six months or so? That’d be swell.
What do we think, kids?
I have such warm memories of the 1998 version 😛 In my defence, I was 6 and at the time it was one of the coolest movies I had ever seen, but my parents thought the movie had ended about 15 minutes before its actual end and we left the theatre and then when it came on TV later, everyone was like “Shit!” It was awesome.
This version better match up.
I promise you those fond memories are goosed by your young and impressionable eyes. What I’ll always remember is the way it was teased with the tagline “Size Does Matter”…which was later met with headlines that read “Plot Does Matter”
It looks cool but… it needs some Blue Oyster Cult for the trailer music.
What about JIm Morrison declaring “I am the Lizard King”?
