I don’t know how you Netflix users do it.
Last night, I stood there staring at my dvd shelves, completely incapable of choosing something to watch. There were titles I loved, titles I’d bought but hadn’t watched yet, even titles I’d been sent by studios in the mail but haven’t played…and yet, I couldn’t make a decision.
I felt like Jeremy Renner standing in the cereal aisle in THE HURT LOCKER.
That was just me with a few hundred titles – like I said, how the hell do you Netflix users ever make a selection when you have thousands of titles to choose from?
Pardon my curiosity – let’s start the weekend, shall we?
For your listening and reading fulfilment, I give you…
Remember when Steve and I talked about CLOUD ATLAS for 25 minutes? Over on the Just Atadcast, they call that “getting limber”.
It seems as though with every passing year I’m becoming more and more a fan of good romantic comedy. Perhaps that’s because with every passing year it seems like Holly wood is having a harder and harder time cranking them out. Mettel Ray longs for the Rom-Com’s of the 90’s…and really, who doesn’t?
Alex has seen one of my favorite docs of the year! Check out her take on BEAUTY IS EMBARASSING.
Many moons ago, I shipped my old dvd copy of Kubrick’s THE KILLING to California. This week, its intended recipient finally gave it a watch, and likewise a glowing review.
Meanwhile down in Gotham, Dor Dotson might have been party to the worst behaved audience to ever gather at a film.
I’ve always loved The Audient’s “Don’t Make a Scene” series. This week I was all the more in love since he dedicated it to one of my favorite films!
Shala Thomas – whose blog turned one year old this week – takes a moment to share what she has learned from the wonderful world of indie film.
Finally, there’s G-Man (whose site has been spruced up!), who wonders about whether there’s such thing as too many movies in a day?
For the Tweet of The Week, we head down to San Francisco where one of our favorite classic film lovers plays make-believe…

Enjoy!
You tend to browse Netflix by genre, which limits the choice to a few hundred.
Still takes me a while to decide.
There are sections of our shelves that are dedicated to various topics – certain directors are gathered together, Criterions are gathered together, musicals, animated – I *still* can’t decide.
I long for 90’s so badly! And I just watched Bridget Jones yesterday and thought how awfully amazing it is compared to Bridesmaids for instance.
Thanks for the link!
I quite liked BRIDESMAIDS actually…it’s the goofy films with very little weight to them that get me down. They often star Katherine Heigel.
With the exception of Knocked Up most bad movies have Katherine Heigl.
Thanks for the link man… I need to follow more of these blogs regularly.
I vote that with your revamped look, that you overhaul your blogroll.
Love that “Hurt Locker” analogy. That’s a good one. So true.
I swear dude – I re-enact that scene weekly…
I have stopped my Netflix account at the moment, I found I just couldn’t decide what to watch. Start watching something then decide to choose something else. Plus I have so many DVDs which I need to catch up with!
