I feel like I’ve done a lot of the talking over the last few weeks.
How are you? How’s the family? Getting the place ready for the holidays? And most importantly – have you seen anything good lately?
From where I sit, it sorta feels like we’re being spoiled at the multiplex. Despite a few missteps for me in the last week or so, it seems as though the theatres are filled with nothing but pure goodness these days. You got your dead presidents, your tigers at sea, your football-loving bi-polars, your British secret agents…what more could you want?
If you’re me, you want a few hobbits, a slave-turned-bounty hunter, and a manhunt for a terrorist. Guess I’ll just have to be patient, right?
I’m also a little anxious to talk to y’all about some of the year-end films I’ve watched but can’t write about yet…both for better and for worse.
In the meantime, lets mingle, shall we?

For your watching, listening and reading fulfillment, I give you…

In a week or so, I’m going to record an episode of Film Jive. Know what’s cool about that? up until this week, I’d never listened to their show – but now that I’ve listened, I can say that I really love what they do! Take a listen to their latest episode discussing SILVER LININGS PLAYBOOK.
One of my two favorite young film critics watched LIFE OF PI this week. Of course, when the film was done, my friend Kurt was at the ready with the video camera to discuss what they’d watched together.
With LINCOLN making a few statements about its Oscar intentions this week, it officially qualifies as a film everyone should try to see. The Droid has had some good fun with that, and wondered what sort of film it would be in the hands of other directors.
In case you didn’t catch it yesterday, here’s the post from my Swedish muse, Jessica, that inspired my plea for positivity.
I’m even more skittish about seeing THE HOBBIT in 48 fps now that some good friends have come away from the film unimpressed. However, Jason – another good friend who I don’t link enough – has crafted an explanation and defense of the technology.
I’m sorta drowning in docs these days, but one I want to watch sooner rather than later is the visually lush SAMSARA. The question is whether I watch it at home, or cave and go to The Lightbox. The Charmin Miss McCosh caught up with it this week, and posted this review.
For the Tweet of the Week…sometimes, it’s just this simple:

Enjoy!
Re: Samsara. Grab a hot tea, go to the Lightbox and see Samsara there. It’s one of those movies that needs to be seen on a big screen.
I really do want to. I’m running low on films I want to see in theatres this month, so that actually might prompt me to go off the commercial trail a bit.
Breathe it, live it, shout it out from the roof tops: Movies are wonderful! I love the positive, optimistic introduction to this post. It really sets the tone we’re striving for.
Also: thank you for the link love
from Your sister in arms
Amen, sister.
Ryan! Thanks for the kudos to my son on him talking up Life of Pi! While on the subject of Samsara, the kids and I saw it at LIGHTBOX (GO—-if only for the 4K projection and amazing sound in their cinemas) – we talked about the film, here —
SAMSARA might just come down to time. I want to see it on a big screen, but if I can’t get to The Lightbox before they stop showing it, the dvd will have to do.
Thank you so much Ryan for giving us a shout out! It means a lot and we are really look forward to having you this coming weekend!
My pleasure mate – been boning up by listening to a glut of back episodes!
