I must begin by thanking everybody who participated in my feedback post yesterday. There’s a lot to chew on in those comments, a lot of constructive points to challenge my skills, and a lot of tough decisions to make. If you left a comment yesterday, you’re aces in my book. If you didn’t – there’s still lots of time to make it into my book.

The next week or so looks to be a fun one for me movie-wise, beginning tomorrow night with a screening of FAST TIMES AT RIDGEMONT HIGH that looks to gather many of the usual suspects and concluding next Friday with a weekend so jam packed with new releases, my mind might literally explode (Any Parks & Rec fans out there?).

Thus, with so much to look forward to, I will keep things brief. I will only offer that a new episode of The Matineecast awaits come Sunday, and like yesterday’s post – I’m hoping many of you fine folks chime in with feedback. Two weeks’ worth of content coming at ya…
For Your Listening and Reading Fulfillment, I Give You…

A podcast I haven’t plugged near enough over the last few months is G-Man’s Unnamed Movie Podcast. Not even a move out of the country can stop this guy as he closes in on Episode 100. Take a listen to the latest episode, featuring discussion on MAMMOTH.

Speaking of podcasts I don’t plug enough, CriticalMassCast posted a new episode this week featuring discussion on two of my favorite films of the fall – MARTHA MARCY MAY MARLENE and TAKE SHELTER. Full disclosure: I’m hoping to coax the members of the show into being social over the next few days, so this link is purely self-serving.

A film I am greatly looking forward to digging into in the next week is Alexander payne’s THE DESCENDANTS. Joe over at Black Sheep has seen it already and stokes my anticipation by giving it top marks.

A blog I learned about this week – but judging by it’s sizeable following, you might already be reading – is Krell Laboratories. The brains behind it, a lass named Vulnavia, wrote a rather interesting piece about CITIZEN KANE. And Lord knows, if there’s one way into this movie geek’s heart…

The star of Matineecast Episode 46 (who does not spoil movies in her own show) has decided to celebrate the penultimate Twilight film by reminding us all of instances where the young Miss Stewart has shown she has some acting chops.

Speaking of listy goodness, Andrew has compiled a pretty interesting tally over on Row Three of directors who scored some pretty nifty goals during their third shifts of the game (Note to Self: Don’ blog and watch hockey at the same time).

Simon takes a second to ponder the upcoming re-release of TITANIC and the strange releationship between James Cameron and commerce.

Vance is not amused by the amount of rallying cries he’s hearing in films these days.

The M0vie Blog has decided to go back to 2007 and re-assess its stance on some of the year’s biggest films.

I sometimes wonder what  film’s legacy will be…but not always immediately after I watch it. Fandango on the other hand is wasting no time, and wondering just how well IN TIME is going to age.

Ruth over at Flix Chatter got quite the discussion going about movie crushes. For what it’s worth, mine are Maggie Cheung in IN THE MOOD FOR LOVE, Monica Bellucci in damned near anything, and Elena Anaya in THE SKIN I LIVE IN.

Finally, to anyone who wonders where I find all the time to watch the movies that I have this year, I point you towards Marya gates, and her stunning achievement of watching 1,000 films she’d never seen before in 2011…and still have seven weeks left on the game clock.

Finally, a pair of Tweets for The Week…

  1. Thanks for the love with the link to the podcast. We have had some troubles with continuing, but we keep trekking for now.

Have 1 episode still in the editing stages that I’ve been holding onto for a while. May release it soon. I can imagine the internet going insane on it based on the topic and our responses (or is this me continually begging for attention again?)

  2. Thanks for the link love, Ryan! It’s funny that the more indulgent posts usually get the most reactions, believe it or not, my case of being spellbound just gets stronger every day 🙂

Btw, I LOVE that photo you use on this post, is that yours? I also love your Tweets of the Week idea, since I’m on Twitter practically every hour, I might steal your idea, he..he..

    Have a wonderful weekend!

    1. Yup – That’s my photo. Every week when I do the E-T post, the photo that accompanies it is one of my own. Gives me a chance to combine my passions. As for the tweet of the week, go for it! Liking forward to seeing what you highlight.

  3. thanks for the link love! I don’t even know how I’ve watched so many movies (I’m at 10,22 already as of about 15 minutes ago). this year was nuts.

  4. Belated, but thanks for the link! Maybe I’ll just spoil all of Kirsten Dunst’s movies this weekend just for you!

And I love Jennifer’s twitter comment because that was the second Jessie Spano reference in a week! Takes me back.

    1. Belated even more, but you’re welcome!

A week without a Jessie Spano reference is like a week without sunshine. Do us all a favour and work one into the next episode of Reel Insight.

    1. Work has ramped up in recent weeks, so my commenting overall is down (even on my own space!). I do apologize for that, but hope you and everyone else knows that I am still reading your work.
