Yes, I’m still in the final throes of my birthday mindset. You know the sort of people who like to duck their birthday and not tell anyone that they’re turning one year older? I’ve never understood that mindset. I promise you, today is the last you’ll hear about anything birthday related until next June.

I’m rather excited as the coming of June means a lot of great things around here, including another film festival, some of my most anticipated films of the year, the arrival of a long-promised blog-a-thon and lots of summer moviegoing hijinks. Things kick off in earnest tomorrow, so make sure you drop by this space sometime around 2pm EST.

But enough about me, let’s take a look at what some of my fellow cinefiles are up to! With two Americans, one Ukrainian, an Aussie, a Brit and a Finn in the spotlight, this week’s E-T is truly an international affair.

For your listening and reading fulfillment, I give you…

By this time next week, voting for The Lammy Awards will have closed. Where the award for Best Podcast is concerned, my prediction is that Frankly My Dear will take the prestigious Golden Mutton. If you aren;t already listening to it, you should be.

Received a rather friendly email on Wednesday from a young gunslinger named Sam who writes a good looking’ site called Duke & The Movies. The guy really seems to know his stuff – which always pisses me off when it comes from brains so much younger than mine. Take a look at what he’s anticipating most forJune at the movies.

Also on Wednesday, a blogger whose enthusiasm I much admire had a bit of an identity crisis. Lesya who writes Eternity of Dream put her blog up to be blustered on The LAMB. Two of the comments, perhaps by the same person, pointed out some grammatical errors in Lesya’s writing style. Thing is, Lesya lives in Ukraine, and English isn’t her first language. My reaction to this is that if I ever tried to keep up my blog in French (my second language), I likely wouldn’t do nearly as well as Lesya does. So when you have a moment, peruse some of her posts, take a look at what’s already been blustered, and respond to her call for critique.

Looking forward to X-MEN tonight, and if Nicki is right I should be in for a solid film.

Back on Tuesday, I put out a call for iPhone users to suggest aps for movielovers to download. Rachel Thuro – who taught me a valuable lesson in reaching out to podcast listeners yesterday – did up a whole post dedicated to her three favourite aps.

Finally the girl who still holds the title of my favourite accent – Anna from 5plitreel – writes about a favourite classic of mine, the unassailable ONE FLEW OVER THE CUCKOO’S NEST.
