I hope you’ll pardon the absence of the usual end-of-week witty repartee, but it’s creepin’ up on 2am and I had no clue finding a halfway decent candid photo of myself was gonna take so long (guess it should come with the territory of usually being the guy behind the camera).
So as I gear up for the final sprint towards Hot Docs, try to get the sounds of 80’s hair metal out of my head, and see just how little sleep I can operate on these days, I take a look around…and see other bloggers doing their usual awesome things.

Let’s do two reviews this time, shall we? Another flick I’m looking forward to is the new one by Ricky Gervais and Steve Merchant, CEMETERY JUNCTION. Number Six has seen that, and here’s his take.
Just started following The Audient, a blog out of LA. His post on A HISTORY OF VIOLENCE interests me, primarily becasue as the guy who usually advises people to take a good movie they weren’t nuts about and “watch it again”…I’m impressed to see that he’s doing just that!

Nice linkage though. The Secret in Their Eyes does look like a potential quiet winner. I'll have to add that to my viewing queue. As for Cemetery Junction, lots of the reviews I've read have noted it for not being good, or bad, just mediocre. Curiosity always peaked for Gervais though.
Well I wish I could have followed through on all of my MSPIFF goals so far. I've only made it to five films, though three of them were from my list of 10. I knew this was going to be a challenging festival for me this year, so even seeing a few is a bit of a success.
So far the documentary The Oath and the drama The Athlete have been the standouts. Hope to see a couple of other docs still (one of them being Casino Jack, which you've mentioned), but we'll see what happens.
@ Univarn… there are interesting podcasts about both films. For SECRET, look for the next-to-last episode of the Creative Screenwriting podcast, where the host does a post-film Q&A with the director.
For JUNCTION, give a listen to Simon & Jo's next-to-last episode…though interestingly, they don't seem to like it very much.
@ Daniel… At this point, I think I'll wait until your whole fest coverage is completed, when I can dig through it in one long session.
Don't sweat not being able to get as much as you wanted – it's almost always that way with film festivals, ain't it?
