Everybody’s Talkin’ 11-13 (Chatter From Other Bloggers)

Friday the Thirteenth today, huh? Interesting…guess it’d mean more if I were superstitious. If you’re camping this weekend, I might stay away from the lake.

Speaking of staying away, I’m not sure if I’m even going to get to a theatre to see something this weekend! That sorta sucks since I’m still a few titles behind. Perhaps Monday or Tuesday I’ll make up for it and see A CHRISTMAS CAROL or AN EDUCATION. There’s actually nothing new coming out this week that interests me…not even 2012, which seems kinda fun, but also like something I’ve seen before.

I’m sure that even if I can’t make it to the theatre this weekend, my fellow bloggers can. Let’s see what they’ve been up to, shall we?

For your reading fulfillment, I give you…

Ross and Ross are rhyming off their Top Five Guilty Pleasures this week…none of mine made their list though.

Aiden at Cut The Crap has seen much-buzzed-about PRECIOUS. Here’s his review.

In honour of Remembrance Day/Veteran’s Day this week, Univarn contemplated the differences between a war film, and a film set during wartime.

Fletch at Blog Cabins took a moment to bitch about fellow bloggers offer some helpful hints.

Joel and his Wonderful Ticket Stub rented one of my all-time faves this week. Take a look at his thoughts on THE NIGHT OF THE HUNTER…then go rent it if you’ve never seen it.

Finally, Tom at Plus Trailers has found a much better alternative than subjecting one’s self to THE BOX.

Enjoy!

  1. Wahoo linkage! Oh, yes, dignified. *cough cough* Well Mr. Hatter of Mad I greatly appreciate your strength of character and kindness with the link to my blog. 🙂

As for The Box I'm still holding out for the sequel:

The 24 Hour Jack in the Box! Starring? Jack Bauer of course :D. Too stupid? Probably 🙂

  2. LOL I like how you linked to the video I posted the makes fun of The Box and not my extremely positive review of that same movie 😉

Thanks for the shout out, always appreciated 🙂

And Univarn, I would watch anything with Jack Bauer

  3. Wow, unrelated but I love that photo! Gorgeous colors and composition!

Also, I would definitely do An Education over A Christmas Carol. It's pretty interesting, and features some good performances. I imagine A Christmas Carol will just be hammy and overly Jim Carey-esque. With weird animation.

  4. Interesting blog on “A Life In Equinox” regarding War Movie or Movie During War? It appears I can’t comment without subscribing so you get the benefit of my reply.

I agree there isn’t a simple answer but wonder, does their need to be? Why pigeonhole movies? In response to a list on the Movie Mobsters blog I put Casablanca top of my war movies. It is set during and is about the war, it just isn’t about front line battles.

  5. The sad thing is, I'm kind of dying to see 2012 just to see ow rotten it is…but I'm not willing to support it financially. I know it'll probably make a boatload anyway, but I'm always harping on people to, you know, stop seeing these shitpiles and maybe, just maybe, they'll stop getting made (after all, 10k BC was a bomb, right?) Every vote counts!

  6. @ Univarn… I wouldn't hold my breath, I was reading yesterday that Cinemascore (people that survey folks leaving screenings on opening night), ended up having to hand this film an F.

F! On opening night audiences!! People that really wanted to see it!!!

@ Aiden… It's still a few weeks off from its Toronto release, but I'm on it.

    @ Tom… It's my bloggy and I'll mock if I want to 🙂

@ Alex… Thanks! FYI, every week for my "Everybody's Talkin" post, the photo I choose is one I myself have taken. Gives me a small excuse to fuse my blogging passion with my photography passion.

As for CAROL, it might be the go-to as I find myself getting into the Christmas spirit a bit more this week. But donchaworry, EDUCATION is very high on the list.

@ Fletch… I'm curious too, but I'll wait for dvd.

  7. Hey Hatter, cheers for the link.
I'm miles behind cinemawise myself. Gutted to have missed District 9!
Only got to see Dr Parnassus last night. A bit weird for me, even by Gilliam's standards. Didn't really like it.
