Thoughts from your host…
We went for a smaller film this week – something calm, quiet, and philosophic, I know that a lot of the people who listen to this show may not have seen this film, or even heard of it.
That’s the sort of thing I look to change by publishing shows like this in the wake of larger offerings.
It’s nothing against the larger offerings – I enjoy ’em and I pay to see them. It’s just that the world at-large will know about those larger offerings no matter if I do a show on them or not (not to mention, form an opinion on larger trends they are part of).
By building shows like this though, my hope is that even one more person will become aware of a piece of art, and maybe even curious about it. I don’t want to get into a conversation about whether or not it is “better”, since I find such conversations often come with agenda and without real purpose.
I only wish to say “this is something I spent time with, and I found it affecting”.
There are a lot of reasons why a person might not feel this is a film for them – and there’s nothing wrong with such feelings. Film means different things to different people, and I believe there is value in all.
Speaking for myself though, just a week or so after I wandered out my front door in search of something beautiful and temporary – I can only say that with every passing year, I become more and more aware of how finite our time really is.
If I am offered some of your precious time, I want to use it wisely…and talk to you about something I believed was a worthy use of my own time.
That’s it, that’s all.
