Late August is such a surreal time of the year.
Days can be swelteringly hot while nights are cold enough to demand a jacket. Cities seem to be only half-full while people flee for amusing getaways with fire pits and docks. All the while, the multiplex just sorta gives up on offering audiences anything of real value.
If summer is a party, Late August is the point where the DJ is playing The Smiths. All there is left to drink is peppermint schnapps and a single bottle of MGD. The living room is filled with people passed-out on couches, but the conversation is still going in the kitchen.
But before the party is over, we must gather, we must drink, and we must talk. The party is winding down, but we are still in it.
Autumn and all of it’s Oscar Bait can wait just a little longer – right now it’s time for summer’s end.
