Thoughts from your host…
This weekend was dominated by podcasting – both with the recording and posting of this show, but also with an epic guest spot on another show that will be posting in a week or so. What I’m saying is, if you happen upon me this week and I look ‘talked-out’, that’s why.
Meanwhile, indie Summer continues here on the podcast, with the splashy fare being tucked aside for a while longer in the name of titles you might not have heard of…or might not be playing close by…or both! Hopefully y’all are alright with that – hell, hopefully my guests and I talk you into a movie you might not otherwise have thought about seeing! There will be plenty of time for the big guns later, right now our attention is a bit more focused on films that feature people who look like us ordinary folk.
To that end, I am both super-stoked that this film has arrived and super-stoked that today’s guest could drop by! I’ve been looking super-forward to seeing another fictional film by Debra Granik, and I’d also been looking super-forward to getting today’s guest back on the show. It’s taken FAR too long to sit down with her again, and considering how close we are, I really have no excuse.
So pack your dry socks, fill your pockets with provisions, and get ready to go off the grid – a new Matineecast is ready for your listening enjoyment.
