Thoughts from your host…
Sometimes, this show provides a space to seek perspective in the big event movies that are taking over the multiplex. Sometimes, these little exchanges I record add a little context or criticism to the pieces of pop culture that you seem to hear about from the moment the rights are secured.
This isn’t one of those times.
There are no Infinity Stones in this podcast…no capes…no cowls. Nobody is fast or furious. Life doesn’t find a way. I hope y’all are alright with that. Nothing against that sort of film (I enjoy them as much as the next bloke), just not what’s on the menu today.
You see, today’s episode leans heavily on what I truly love doing most with this podcast. Today I’m going to sit down with a friend whose perspective on life I truly cherish and discuss a small piece of art that we happened to watch together. It left us both thinking about life, about loss, about who we are and who we want to be. All of these thoughts are draped over a movie I bet few of you have seen…but I do hope that after seventy-five minutes of sitting at our table, you might be inspired to seek it out.
In moments like this, I’m thankful to find friends who want to discuss these sorts of stories with me. In moments like these, I’m also thankful to find listeners who want to listen-in on those discussions.
So even though phrases like “Thanos”, “gauntlet”, and “Wakanda” are nowhere to be heard on this episode, I hope you enjoy what you do hear…since I certainly enjoyed recording it.
