Thoughts from your host…
Yesterday, I wrote about my many appearances in 2014 on The Dew Over. One of the things I love about Jamie Dew’s format is that way it allows me to hash out my thoughts on film with a certain familiar faces episode-in and episode-out. Take that in comparison to my show – where despite being a great friend and an awesome guest, I manage to let two whole years go by before getting Courtney back on the show.
There’s all sorts of new ideas and new directions that come with every new year. I can’t help but wonder – might 2015 be the year where I finally start getting returning guests on with a higher degree of frequency?
Who knows, maybe I’ll even follow Mr. Dew’s lead and start gathering a panel!
Thanks for tuning into episode one-hundred-twenty-eight.

Enjoy!

I have a strange relationship with Paul Thomas Anderson movies. I have seen all his films and I have liked them all, but I rarely feel compelled to watch them a second time. I have been looking forward to Inherent Vice and you have certainly fuelled that interest. We get it in about two weeks time.
Funny that you put it that way – when I got through his last film (THE MASTER) – I was knocked so hard back on my heels that if I had a say in the matter I would have immediately had the projectionist run it again.
Fair warning: INHERENT VICE is quite off-kilter, but really a great experience.
Paul Thomas Anderson does not really get a free pass from me. I thought INHERENT VICE was a bit of a chore to watch and I can’t say that I liked the film (though I didn’t hate it either). It was just “there”.
