Hopefully, you aren’t quite eggnogg’d out just yet…because we have a little more Christmas discussion to send your way.
Just a few sleeps before Christmas, I was a guest on the Film Jive Podcast with host Zack Betonte (Sadly, scheduling difficulties prevented the show’s other host Nick Wheatley from getting in on the fun). The topic at hand for the episode was Christmas Films, and wanting to discuss something a little different, I brought the 2005 foreign gem JOYEUX NOËL to the table. Meanwhile, The Film Jive boys put up a poll to decide what the other film discussed would be, and the most votes went to Bergman’s 1982 classic, FANNY AND ALEXANDER.
Thus, you have a discussion dedicated to a pair of artsy, foreign, Christmas films.
I mention it within the show, and I’ll say it again here – had I known FANNY AND ALEXANDER was going to be the other film discussed, I’d have chosen something a bit more warm and fuzzy…like ERNEST SAVES CHRISTMAS.
The episode can be found here, and any comments about how little I know of Bergman or how snobbish I am can be left below.
