True story:
Back in March, when Nikhat Zahra was nice enough to stop by The Matineecast, I suggested off-air that she might think about starting podcast of her own. Specifically, I thought she should rally up with some of the other international women I saw her talking with on Twitter so much to create something truly unique. That she and her friends launch a podcast not only dominated by female voices, but one with a truly global feel.
I was just spitballing at the time, but luckily for all of us, Nik thought the idea was a good one, and Across the Universe was born.
Seven months after that fateful conversation, and a little more than five months after ATU’s first episode, I was honoured and smitten when the ladies asked me to be their first guest. I was even more honoured and smitten when they told me that the discussion topic was chosen with me in mind – music films.
It would seem as though my love for music shines through in my writing (who’d have thought), so Mette, Nik, and Sofia decided to run with my geekery for a whole episode. They even gave me a pretty good dose of my own medicine by starting the show with four “Know Your Enemy”-esque questions – and really good questions at that! Happily, I was able to reciprocate by turning the conversation towards two of my favorite films that my hosts hadn’t seen before.
So grab your headphones and get comfy. It’s time to discuss some good films, and good music – listen here.
Many thanks to Mette, Nik, and Sofia for bringing me on.
