Hey Fletch – whaddaya think? Do I look doufy??
So this morning, I beg of you, permit me a small break from writing.
With Oscar season behind us, I look back over the last forty days and realize that I’ve written six full reviews, detailed another eight titles on dvd, recorded four podcasts (plus one more for the LAMB), and talked Oscar over ten posts! In a word gang – I’m pooped. As if on cue, I woke up yesterday morning to London calling…
…literally.
Please, click here and give a listen to my guest appearance on a podcast that truly inspires my own work, the legendary Simon & Jo.
Hey hey, I'm excited about hearing your matinee-cast too! As you no doubt heard, a few bits were cut out to just speed up the whole thing (so upsetting to cut conversations on the Saul Bass credits on Bond, the brief disection of 3D VS 2D Alice in Wonderland… Greg Kinnear in Greenzone…) but a great experience for all methinks. Interestingly i noticed your last movie watched is 'red shoes', i only watched it the other day myself and what a film! Visually stunning – the waves crashing on the edge of the stage and then merging wave sounds into applause. Incredible.
@ Simon… For my podcast you'll need to sit tight a little while longer as it won't drop until next week (I've been working on an every-other-week rotation for my podcasts to preserve my sanity).
As for yours, the experience is indeed a good one and the cuts work very well – I'm a big believer that a little bit of finessing can make a world of difference where these shows are concerned.
Yeah, how had I gone so long without seeing THE RED SHOES? I must give props to Lady Hatter and Big Mike on that one since they both caused me to step up my efforts and finally see it.
It was the editing of her "jumping into" the red shoes that really baked my noodle.
Oh the Headphone Debate rears its ugly head once more:)
I understand Mad. And I forgive you. I was planning on using March 24th as a day of rest after these 23 days of Kurosawa + School + Job Hunting, my brain's all kind of fired… alas it's a blogging buddy's birthday and I promised him a review, so there goes that.
Takin' a break now & again is always a good idea Hatter! Especially post-Oscars. Enjoy it 🙂
Great to hear you on the Simon & Jo show! Totally fun cast that I've now added to my regular rotation.
Haha – but of course you do! 😉 Silly giant headphones. I only wear those when recording a podcast, but then I have no choice, really.
Can't wait to listen to you chat it up with my favorite UK podcasters (Ok, they're the only ones I listen to, but still…).
@ Rachel… At this point I'd say it's more self-deprecating discussion than it is debate.
@ Univarn… One of these days I'll go a whole day without posting. Spring time is actually the trickiest point to find something new to write about everyday, so it might even be sooner than we think!
@ Shannon… Given that it's only four weeks between Oscars and the craziness that will be Hot Docs, perhaps I should in fact soak it up!
@ Fletch… Actually in the wintertime here in Toronto, they come in handy as they also double as earmuffs!
Regardless, I am cool with looking like a douf if it means the music on my iPod gets to me sounding great.
Good to have ya back buddy.
