get enough of me behind a mic with yesterday’s Matineecast post? I sure hope not, because you get two more doses coming at you today before it’s all said and done. The first half of my sultry sounds – or less-than-sultry given the odd state of my microphone – comes courtesy of Reel Insight.
This is my fourth kick at the RI can, and y’know what gang? That podcast has been responsible for me watching some truly heinous movies! I thought I had a running shot with the star I chose for episode fifty-nine, but instead I learned that being easy on the eyes is no guarantee of quality work.
So click on the player below and give a listen to Rachel Thuro, Jess Rogers, and myself talking about all things Zooey Deschanel.
How dare you speak ill of Your Highness! Seriously though, out of her 7 movies I watched for this episode, I gave 4 (!) of them 1-star reviews. That’s a bad week of film watching. This week is shaping up to be much better, but with an actor I find a bit “toasty.”
But still check out Flakes when you can.
This wasn’t nearly as painful as James Franco week…I’ll take EULOGY over ANNAPOLIS anyday. Thanks again for having me – I always have a blast talkin’ to y’all.
Sorry my mic wasn’t more co-operative.
Haven’t listened to this podcast, but I have to agree – Zooey is hit or miss for me. I couldn’t make it through TIN MAN largely because of her performance. But then you get a film like (500) DAYS and you say “wow, I want more”.
When you watch all of her work end-to-end over ten days or so, you realize just how “hit-and-miss” she is.
I must say, despite rarely listening to this podcast, I’m truly impressed at the amount of prep work Rachel and co. does for this show.
Good stuff guys. And I’m so grateful for “Your Highness”. Come end of the year, the film makes it so much easier to pick “the worst’s” of 2011.
Damn right – Jess and Rachel put a boatload of work into their show. Not only do they do a lot of watching specifically for the weekly discussion, but the editing work that is put in after the fact is intense (especially on short-turnaround).
If you’re not already listening to it, you should subscribe right away.
