As a podcaster, I quite enjoy being a guest on other people’s podcasts. For starters, it allows me to to repay the favour of the dozens of people who have been on my own show. What’s more, it’s a bit more relaxing than hosting my own how – I can relax a bit more, not have to worry about the technical details of what’s going on. Essentially, I can just kick back and talk.
Thus, when Jim from The Director’s Club came calling asking if I’d like to join in on a show, the answer was obvious.
The Director’s Club is a great show that I don’t promote as much as I should around here. Remember last summer when Simon Columb and I recorded Series One of The Film Locker? Well, TDC is an expansion of that very idea with every episode being an exploration of a director’s filmography. In the past they’ve done episodes on directors I love like Cameron Crowe and Steven Soderbergh (future Film Locker subjects perhaps?).
This latest episode which I was lucky enough to be a part of centres around the work of Michel Gondry, and specifically his work on ETERNAL SUNSHINE OF THE SPOTLESS MIND and THE SCIENCE OF SLEEP. Apologies in advance if I’m a bit more reserved that y’all are used to, however Jim and Simon brought me in to record this episode at the end of a slightly hellish ten days.
You can listen to the episode by going through The Director’s Club Website or alternately by clicking here.
Hmm … never heard of the show till now.
I’ll have to give it a listen.
They have great discussions. Give this episode a listen and then start working through their others.
