It’s a busy day around these parts with a wedding afoot and the return of the podcast to prepare for, so I’m going to leave this here for you and have you talk amongst yourselves.
I will say this though – with that epic World Series over, odds are that my movie watching will be ramping-up from here until New Year’s Eve. Buckle up!
Here’s The Week at Hand…
Screenings
NIGHTCRAWLER – I wish I could watch the car chase from this film on a loop.
Blu-Rays/DVD’s I’ve Never Seen
SUMMER STOCK – Judy, Gene, and a farm. What more could one want?
NATIONAL LAMPOON’S VACATION – Yes, it is a crime that I hadn’t seen this before.
STAGECOACH – I think I’m going to need a copy of this
THE GHOST AND MRS. MUIR – Neat little movie, weird second half though.
THE PEOPLE UNDER THE STAIRS – This was seven kinds of messed up
Blu-Rays/DVD’s I’ve Seen Before
NOAH – Underrated.
THREE KINGS – This movie seems to change with every passing year of history.
PARANORMAN – My Halloween night watch.
Boxscore for The Year
240 First-Timers, 167 Re-Watched
88 Screenings
407 Movies in Total
The People Under the Stairs is even more crazy if you see it at a younger age, it is probably why I have a soft spot for that film.
New to me:
The Oxford Murders – Having seen both The Last Circus and Dance with the Devil (several years ago), I decided it was time to dive into Álex de la Iglesia’s canon a bit further. This was decent but nothing memorable.
Audition – Second Blind Spot film for October. Back on track now…
Mirage – If Malick or Jarmusch made a modern day set western, I imagine it would look something like this.
Monkey Shines – Cheesy 80s horror that is not good per say but fun to watch. Surprised George A. Romero directed the film.
Slums: Cities of Tomorrow – A pretty interesting talking heads documentary on urban slums.
Shivers – Halloween night pick. Loved it. Only Cronenberg could pull this concept off.
First-Timers: Marnie, Assault on Precinct 13, Only Lovers Left Alive, Nosferatu, The Hangover Pt. III, and The Fog.
Re-Watches: Ed Wood, Alien, The Devil’s Backbone (for Halloween), and Scooby-Doo.
Well this month I caught up with some of Blind Spot choices that were left behind:
City Lights (1931) – The one from June. Very touching and funny. That ending melts your heart.
Willy Wonka and The Chocolate Factory – August. Fun but flawed. Pure Imagination is a beautiful tune.
The Umbrellas of Cherbourg – Unique film. Catherine Deneuve looks like an angel.
Eraserhead – I know you haven’t watched this from your list of proposed Blind Spots for 2015. It’s not a pleasure to watch but it’s an experience. It’s strange, a bit scary and beautiful looking. It took Lynch 6 years to make it.
An American Werewolf in London – It was fun and all but not scary at all.
The Babadook – Now this one made me squirm. No jump scares at all. Highly recommended. The lead actress is phenomenal.
Here is an entire list of what I watched this October:

Well the end of my horror-only October was a quiet fizzle instead of the horror-thon I always hope it to be. But both movies were exceptionally good, so that’s something.
First time:
Night of the Creeps
Invasion of the Body Snatchers (1978)
