My PVR continues to fill and fill and fill, and meanwhile what do I do? I go and watch THE APARTMENT for the seventeenth time.
Such is the way, isn’t it?
I had a discussion about this last week with a few people in regards to books. I’ve heard that several voracious readers actually create for themselves a “TBR Jar”. Like a Job Jar, but with the titles of books they haven’t read yet written on the little slips of paper. I had to smile when I heard about this since it seemed so very counter to the way I keep my “TBR” books in a stack (ditto my unplayed records). But before I could judge too harshly, I remembered the small cluster of blu-rays yet left unviewed, and worse, the two dozen titles recorded off TCM.
I can’t even point to titles being watched for the purpose of writing/podcasting this week as that would only account for two of my eight.
No folks – I’ve been slacking. I’ve been eschewing the new experiences for the old familiars that are making it tougher and tougher for me to get the lid on my virtual “TBW Jar”.
So let’s see if I can do something about that going forward – especially with a quieter week ahead.
Of course, as I say this, I find myself watching MR. SMITH GOES TO WASHINGTON for the second time.
Here’s the week at hand…
Screenings
FAR FROM THE MADDING CROWD – My brother put it best – this film is very DAYS OF HEAVEN.
INSIDE OUT – I’ll have much more to say about this beautiful Pixar offering in the days to come.
Streaming/Blu-Rays/DVD’s I’ve Seen Before
TRUE GRIT (2010) – I do not know this man.
NOAH – After seeing Darren Aronofsky turn up in an episode of Anthony Bourdain’s “Parts Unknown”, I felt the urge to come back to this one.
THE APARTMENT – Do I ever need a reason?
HOW TO TRAIN YOUR DRAGON 2 – I feel like this film is underrated.
BLADE RUNNER – Ariel is wrong.
WHILE WE’RE YOUNG – Which side do you come down on?
First-Timers: Magic in the Moonlight, Il Sorpasso, Episode 1 and (right now) Episode 2 of Twin Peaks.
Re-Watches: Blades of Glory, The Phantom Menace, and Attack of the Clones.
Nice titles. I love both versions of True Grit. Might even like the remake a little better.
Hahahaha, I try not to think too much about a TBW pile, because in my case it’s more like a TBW room. 🙂
All first time for me:
Blue Jasmine – I loved this so much. Sorry I pushed it aside for so long.
Ambush
Beyond Dream’s Door
Blue Ruin
Open Windows
The Sky Has Fallen
