Hey gang – remember this feature?? Yet another usual shenanigan of The matinee that got back-burnered through most of June in the name of other goings on. If anyone was waiting on it with baited breath, I’m happy to report that it has returned.

Plan the parade; I passed the bicentennial mark for the year. While my average is still close to one movie per day over the last three weeks, my film watching habits have dipped a wee bit. Mostly because I’ve been catching up on a bit of TV on dvd (Season One of The Wire, Season Three of Breaking Bad, and Ken Burns’ Baseball Series if you’re curious). Fear not though faithful readers, I’m sure your favorite obsessive compulsive will be back up to a ten title week in no time.

Screenings
MIDNIGHT IN PARIS – Quickly becoming Woody Allen’s biggest box office draw, and for good reason.
GREEN LANTERN – I might never get over this disappointment
E.T. – Walking through Dupont Circle in Washington D.C. and happened upon an outdoor showing!
CARS 2 – Not nearly as bad as everyone had me believe.

RAINMAN GOES TO ROCKWIZ – NXNE Selection: I still want to see the longer cut.
YOU CAN’T SING IT FOR THEM – NXNE Selection: Kinda wanna join a choir now.
IVORY TOWER – NXNE Selection: Whimsical absurdity if ever there was some.
CAMP CUCAMONGA – Left a mark that isn’t going away anytime soon.
POPEYE – Someone please tell me why she still owns this?
WHAT A GIRL WANTS – What’s going on with Amanda Bynes’ career anyway?
CEDAR RAPIDS – Not bad, but I was getting distracted so I might want to watch it again.

Blu-Rays/DVD’s I’ve Watched Before
DAZED AND CONFUSED – “That’s the thing I love about these high school girls…”
DRACULA (1931) – I now have no default pecking order for pulling dvd’s from the shelf.
TRUE GRIT (2010)– Lookin’ glorious on blu ray I must say!
SE7EN – For the 100th time or so.
TALK TO HER – The silent film in the middle of it still cracks me up.
ALL ABOUT MY MOTHER – My Region 2 copy of it doesn’t play in the blu-ray. *sigh*
MONSTERS – Another film that looks amazing on Blu ray.
TRAINSPOTTING – I was home sick on Wednesday…so, y’know…
