As a fan of the books, my only hope for these films is that “they” don’t screw them up.
Judging by what we see here, so far…so good…

I’m with you. Lawrence is obviously perfect for Katniss, who starts off not unlike Ree Dolly. My only hesitations are Gale and Peeta. I haven’t seen Hemsworth in anything, though he seems to be fitting into the role of Gale in the trailer. Hutcherson I saw in The Kids Are All Right, but he’s not quite how I pictured Peeta. But they don’t show him enough in the trailer for me to really have an early opinion yet.
I don’t know either of the boys’ work well enough to form an opinion either. For now I’m just gonna hope for the best.
I applaud whoever edited this trailer.
Seriously.
Is it March yet?
I still think that this is playing too closely to fans of the novel and needs to be broadened a bit more to play to the people Lionsgate really must convince, and I felt that the “I volunteer as tribute” moment was a tad stiff, but the studio has plenty of time to work on the former and the latter probably works better in full context. So I’m strangely excited. Considering this read a lot like Winter’s Bone meets Battle Royale, it feels like its own thing, and I’m a fan of the casting choices– though I know little and less of Hemsworth.
In other words, I’m looking forward to March.
