Many moons ago, not long after the sale of Lucasfilm to Disney was first announced, I was one of those who wondered if the brand “Star Wars” might become a little less special.
For me, part of the reason I could never get into the extended universe of books, comics, games, cartoons and the like was because it began to feel too sprawling…less self-contained…less…special.
What made those original six films unique – flawed as the are – was that they told a concise story of a galaxy where thousands of stories were there for the telling. I feared with new episodes and new side tales, that it would sap some of the joy from the brand.
Today…I realize I was an idiot to feel this way.
I so want to see this.
